Oily Sandy Swamp Asteroid guide: a teleporter world no cluster places

AsteroidsMedium

What the Oily Sandy Swamp world file generates in the current game, with two in-game examples.

The Oily Sandy Swamp Asteroid is a 128 × 153 cell teleporter world: swamp around the arrival area, two or more tundras, four or more beetle wastelands, oil fields and a barren core. The game calls it a mildly frozen world with an oily core, largely swampy with a great deal of wasteland. It is built like the Oily Swamp Asteroid that the Terrania Cluster places, with more wasteland and a guaranteed Liquid Sulfur Geyser.

No cluster in the current game places this asteroid, so typing a seed never produces it. Players meet it in custom clusters built with cluster-editing mods such as Cluster Generation Manager. The screenshots below come from the game's own world generator: a Terrania Cluster game in which the Oily Swamp teleporter placement was replaced by this world file, so the cluster coordinate under each picture does not reproduce the asteroid in an unmodded game.

BiomesSwamp arrival area and swamp, two or more tundras, four or more beetle wastelands, sparse oil fields, oil wells and a barren core.
GuaranteedA teleporter pair, an AETN heat sink, oil pockets and a Liquid Sulfur Geyser, plus a roll from gas vents, a small volcano and another sulfur geyser.
Peak light and radiation35,000 lux of sunlight and 187 rads of cosmic radiation at the surface.
World traitsOne or two random traits.

Strengths

  • A Liquid Sulfur Geyser on every world, averaging 1.2 to 1.5 kg/s, plus 73 to 84 tonnes of solid sulfur.
  • Cobalt Ore (280 to 300 tonnes), lead (about 410 tonnes) and 25 to 72 tonnes of diamond.
  • Food: about 60 Sleet Wheat (Sleet Wheat), Bog Buckets, Mellow Mallows and Grubfruit, with Sweetles and Slicksters.
  • An AETN heat sink in a tundra.

Weaknesses

  • Little liquid water: 18 to 28 tonnes of water and about 150 tonnes of polluted water.
  • Sporechids (1 to 11) spread zombie spores.
  • Hot oil fields and a barren core under the swamp.

What to target first after landing

  1. Teleport over and settle the swamp arrival area.
  2. Capture the Liquid Sulfur Geyser for sulfur.
  3. Mine cobalt ore and lead and send them home through the supply teleporter.
  4. Use the AETN to cool an industry block.

Surviving the asteroid

Remove or wall off the Sporechids before digging near them, and ship water in until the colony taps ice from the tundras.

Role in the colony

In a custom cluster, the Oily Sandy Swamp is a sulfur, cobalt and food annex reached by teleporter.
