Aridio asteroid guide: the hot start, cooling and example seeds
AsteroidsHard
How to keep farms and Duplicants cool on the hot forest start, with three in-game seeds and every geyser located.
Aridio is the hot forest start, and the game rates it Slim, the lowest rating of any base-game start, shared only with Oasisse. The start biome has the same forest plants and Pips as Verdante, but it sits at a warm temperature instead of room temperature, the ocean is hot, the rust biomes are warm and there is no tundra at all. Resources are plentiful; the problem is that every farm, every Duplicant and every machine has to be kept cool on a world that only gets hotter.

| Fact | Value |
|---|---|
| Size | Base game: 256 × 384 cells. Spaced Out! Aridio Asteroid: 240 × 380 cells. |
| Survival chance | Slim |
| Where you find it | Base game cluster Aridio; Spaced Out! Aridio Cluster, next to the Radioactive Terrabog Asteroid and five outer moonlets. |
| Starting biome | Warm forest: Oxyfern, Arbor Trees, Mealwood, Hexalent, Mirth Leaf, Pips and Shine Bugs. |
| Other biomes | Warm forest pockets, five or more marshes, jungles, hot oceans and warm rust biomes, an oil field and the magma core. No tundra. |
| World traits | Two to four random traits. |
| Meteor showers | Base game: iron, gold and copper showers. Spaced Out!: copper, ice and slimy showers. |
Strengths
- Rich in ore: each sample seed holds 2,000 to 3,600 tonnes of Iron Ore, 1,100 to 1,600 tonnes of Gold Amalgam and around 1,000 tonnes of Aluminum Ore.
- Wood from the forest start and rust biomes full of Rust and Bleach Stone.
- Heat-loving crops fit the map: Pincha Pepper (Pincha Pepperplant) grows between 35 and 85 ºC and Waterweed between 22 and 65 ºC, where Mealwood (10 to 30 ºC) has already stopped.
- Cold geysers appear often: every sample seed has at least one Cool Slush Geyser, Cool Salt Slush Geyser or Carbon Dioxide Geyser, and those are the most valuable vents on this map.
Weaknesses
- Heat. The base starts warm and every machine adds to it. Crops stop growing above their temperature window: Mealwood and Bristle Blossom both stall above 30 ºC.
- No tundra means no natural cold sink and no AETN.
- Heat also stresses Duplicants and spoils food faster.
What to target first
- Cycle 1: Research Station, Outhouse, Oxygen Diffuser, and a Mealwood farm in the coolest corner of the start.
- Cycle 1 to 10: Microbe Musher for food while the farm grows; keep machines out of the farm room.
- Cycle 5 to 20: find the nearest cold vent on your seed. A slush geyser at -10 ºC or a liquid CO2 geyser at -55 ºC is your first cooling system.
- Cycle 10 to 30: research insulation and wall the base with Insulated Tile; run the cold liquid through the farm and bedrooms in pipes.
- Cycle 30 onward: a Thermo Aquatuner or Thermo Regulator with a Steam Turbine to remove heat for good.
Surviving Aridio
Every watt you spend becomes heat in your base. Build fewer, better machines, keep the electrolyzer and generators in their own insulated room, and send their heat out through a coolant loop rather than letting it spread.
Food is the first thing heat takes away. Watch the farm temperature from cycle 5, and if it climbs toward 30 ºC, move the farm or cool it before the crops stop.

Large Boulders, Subsurface Ocean, Alternate Pod Location and Metal Rich. The pod sits on the far left at (24, 253) with a Hot Polluted Oxygen Vent only 37 cells away: seal it before it heats the base with 500 ºC polluted oxygen.
No cold vent sits close; the nearest Carbon Dioxide Geyser is 147 cells away. Water comes from a Cool Steam Vent 48 cells above the pod and a Salt Water Geyser 70 cells below. This is the hardest of the three seeds for heat.

The Spaced Out! Aridio Cluster is rated Slim as well. Its teleporter target, the Radioactive Terrabog Asteroid, has sandstone and swamp biomes that run cooler than the start. Read the Radioactive Terrabog Asteroid guide before the first teleport.

Long-term plan
Aridio's late game is a cooling project. A Steam Turbine removes heat and makes power at the same time; pair it with a Thermo Aquatuner and the colony can run the ore-rich industry the map supports. Until then, keep the colony small and the machine count low.
