Oasisse asteroid guide: desert, scarce water and example seeds
AsteroidsHard
How to stretch the small forest water pockets until a geyser runs, with three in-game seeds and every geyser located.
Oasisse is a forest start surrounded by desert. The game rates it Slim and describes it as desolate, with life-sustaining water trapped beneath the surface. The start biome is the usual forest with Oxyferns, Arbor Trees, Mealwood and Pips, and two or more small forest water pockets, but the rest of the asteroid is sand and sandstone: 7,000 to 12,000 tonnes of Sand on the sample seeds. A hot desert band, marshes, jungles, oceans and five or more oil patches complete the map.

| Fact | Value |
|---|---|
| Size | Base game: 256 × 384 cells. Spaced Out! Oasisse Asteroid: 240 × 380 cells. |
| Survival chance | Slim |
| Where you find it | Base game cluster Oasisse; Spaced Out! Oasisse Cluster, next to the Radioactive Swamp Asteroid and five outer moonlets. |
| Starting biome | Forest: Oxyfern, Arbor Trees, Mealwood, Hexalent, Mirth Leaf, Pips and Shine Bugs, with two or more small forest water pockets nearby. |
| Other biomes | Sandstone and a hot desert, five or more marshes and oceans, jungles, five or more oil patches and the magma core. No tundra. |
| World traits | Two to four random traits. |
| Meteor showers | Base game: iron, gold and copper showers. Spaced Out!: copper, ice and slimy showers. |
Strengths
- Copper. Copper Ore reaches 900 to 2,300 tonnes on the sample seeds; no other base-game start sampled here passes 1,000 tonnes.
- Sand and sandstone everywhere: Hatch food and filter media for a Water Sieve never run out.
- Five or more oil patches give an early Crude Oil supply.
Weaknesses
- Water. The forest water pockets are small and the desert holds none. Until a geyser is tamed, every litre must be recycled.
- Heat from the desert band and the jungles, with no tundra to absorb it.
- Little Algae: the forest start depends on Oxyferns and an early electrolyzer.
What to target first
- Cycle 1: Research Station, Outhouse, and a Mealwood farm on the forest dirt.
- Cycle 1 to 5: Oxygen Diffuser on the nearest algae; protect the Oxyferns.
- Cycle 3 to 10: Microbe Musher on the small water pockets, and plan the Water Sieve early because toilet water is your largest source.
- Cycle 5 to 20: tame the nearest water vent on your seed and build the Electrolyzer on it.
- Cycle 20 to 40: ranch Hatch on sand for coal, then a Coal Generator.
Surviving Oasisse
Water is the clock on Oasisse. Count the forest pockets on cycle 1, reserve them for drinking and the musher, and keep every Duplicant activity that wastes water off until a geyser runs into the base.
The desert is hot and the sand flows when undermined. Dig the desert from the side with tiles ready, and keep the base on the forest side of the map.

Metal Rich, Trapped Oil, Mixed Boulders and Magma Channels. A hard water seed: the nearest water vent is a Steam Vent 58 cells away at (179, 214) with 500 ºC steam, and the first Cool Steam Vent is 88 cells above the pod.
Gas power is close instead: two Hydrogen Vent vents sit 54 and 60 cells from the pod, and a Copper Volcano 64 cells to the right at (193, 188) adds to the large copper ore deposits.

Subsurface Ocean adds about 3,800 tonnes of Salt Water. The middle of the map holds a Water Geyser at (123, 174) and a Iron Volcano at (135, 196), both under 90 cells away.

Frozen Core adds about 3,300 tonnes of Ice, useful as cooling against the desert heat.

The Spaced Out! Oasisse Cluster is rated Slim as well. Its teleporter target, the Radioactive Swamp Asteroid, has the swamp water and slime biomes the desert lacks. Read the Radioactive Swamp Asteroid guide before the first teleport.

Long-term plan
Once one water source runs into the base, Oasisse turns into a copper-and-oil industrial world. Purified water feeds the electrolyzers, oil patches feed a Oil Refinery and plastics, and the large copper ore deposits cover wiring and machines for a long time. Cooling remains the long-term task, so plan a Steam Turbine loop before the refinery heats the base.
