Acclaimed alumnae of Elion University of Science and Technology are speaking out against academic malfeasance in the world of theoretical physics. Jackie Stern and Olivia Broussard, co-valedictorians of last year's graduating class, recently revealed that one of the articles they co-authored under Dr. Emil Schleichen's supervision was, in fact, a demonstrative scholarly hoax. The two women are accusing Dr. Schleichen of building his career on ideas plagiarized from his PhD students. "Professors like him claim to be passionate about innovation," Stern declared, in a recording sent to more than a dozen scientific media outlets. "Yet they make it impossible for others to establish their own reputations and access funding for the research projects that could hold the answer to humanity's survival." Stern and Broussard also denounced the lack of critical lens applied to papers attached to such notable names as Dr. Schleichen's. "We intentionally featured several debunked scientific theories, none of which the editors questioned," says Broussard. Editors of The Journal of Theoretical Physics did not respond to our requests for comment. Dr. Schleichen has also declined to be interviewed, though the Dean of EUST published a formal statement indicating that Dr. Schleichen is currently on paid leave while the administration investigates the matter. EUST also indicated that Stern and Broussard may face repercussions for publicly undermining the university's reputation.
